This page deals with our visit to Leigh park and we consider the claims of Wendy Wild and her brother Paul Wild.
We also have a close look at the police investigation. It's the bits the police left out of the courtroom that are interesting.
The accusation
In 2013 a middle aged woman named Wendy Wild reported that she had been assaulted by Mr Harris when she was at a concert at the Leigh Park community centre in Dunsbury Way in Havant in Hampshire. Wild described being around seven years old and queuing for an autograph. While at the front of the queue in full view of all others both in the queue and any other onlookers, Mr Harris assaulted her twice. She claims that she recalls Mr Harris putting his hands up her skirt and feeling her private parts. She claims that she didn't react because she was too frightened. She claims that she didn't tell anybody because nobody would have believed her.
Her brother Paul Wild claims that he dropped his sister off at the venue and left her there to collect her later.
The time was described by Wild as a 'chilly Saturday morning' and around the time of the moon landings. She describes it as near her birthday and Mr Harris sang Two Little Boys.
We would try to narrow down the time except as Mr Harris never went to Leigh Park that is rather a tall order. If we could find evidence that Mr Harris went to Leigh Park then the time would be easy. As it happens all we have is Wendy Wilds garbled version of it so let's try to ascertain the credibility (or not) of her claim.

Wendy Wild was born October 1961
There were six landings on the moon: 20 July 1969, 19 Nov 1969, 05 Feb 1971, 30 Jul 1971, April 1972 and December 1972.
We can start by ruling out the 1971 and 1972 landings because in court it was given that the alleged assault occurred in 1968/1969.
Below we give quotations from the Judges summing up;
"The defence says the girl of seven or eight assaulted at Portsmouth community centre in 1968/69 could be mistaken about identity."
Jurors are told there are "ultimate questions" they must ask themselves in relation to each count.
On the first count, that Harris touched a girl of seven in 1969, "have the prosecution made us sure it was the defendant who touched the girl... and that he did so in the way alleged?"
The judge is now recapping the evidence.
He starts with the girl who claims she was assaulted at Portsmouth community centre in 1969 around the time of the moon landing.
"The girl was 7 or 8 when she asked Harris for an autograph after he sang Two Little Boys.
He is alleged to have molested her, and she was too shocked to cry out."
The judge says "police were not able to find proof Harris ever went to the community centre, and Harris denied ever visiting."
We might have to rule out the landings in November 1969 too because there was no TV coverage of that one. Wild may have known about the November 1969 landings from talking about them at school or whatever else so we cannot say she didn't know about them at all, but we do know she wouldn't have watched them on TV. We are doubtful she read about them in the newspapers because this is how literate she is now, never mind when she was a child:

The fact is we don't know!
We must point out that at the time of the alleged assaults Rolf was either just beginning or possibly ending a provincial tour starting at the Royal Albert Hall and including prestigious theatres all over the UK, yet we are expected to believe that Rolf began or ended the tour by appearing at a tiny low key venue such as the Community Centre in Dunsbury Way on the Leigh Park estate in Havant.

We looked up the weather report for July 1969....below! The report gives a hot rainy July with a few cool days.
It is an impossible task trying to narrow down the date of the alleged incident for many reasons:
It is an impossible task trying to narrow down the date of the alleged incident for many reasons:
- 1 There is strong evidence showing that Rolf never went to Leigh Park and absolutely NONE suggesting he did.
- 2 Wendy Wild is vague and doesn't give a date.
- 3 Nothing she says adds up ie-
- 4 There were two moon landings in 1969 and she doesn't say which one.
- 5 She says near her birthday suggesting the November landings but Rolf was on tour in October and November - so it must have been July.
- 6 She says Rolf sang 'Two Little Boys' but that wasn't promoted nor released until December 1969 - it was the Christmas number one, so it couldn't have been July.
None of it adds up and I believe the reason her story doesn't add up is because she made it up.
Evidence given at the trial doesn't make any sense either. Two people came forward as witnesses and gave evidence saying that Rolf WAS at Leigh Park. They both say they remember because his visit coincided with other celebrity visits. One said Rolf's visit coincided with Sid James's visit when he went to open the Greywell shopping centre.
The other said that Rolf's visit coincided with Diana Dors's visit when she went to open the Crown Bingo.
That would be strong evidence I suppose if either had been telling the truth. The clue that they were not telling the truth is that Sid James visit to open Greywell was in 1966, and Diana Dors opened the Crown Bingo in 1973 - SEVEN YEARS APART! But both at the same time according to the prosecution!
I ask again - where were the defence team? Were they asleep?
Something else doesn't make sense. In court it was given that the event was on a Saturday morning. Later Wild spoke of the event being the junior disco. The junior disco at Leigh Park community centre in 1969 was a weekly event on TUESDAY's not Saturday!

So, the memories of Sid James and Diana Dors being at Leigh Park around the time Rolf Harris is alleged to have been there in 1969 are shown to be wholly wrong. These dates were never challenged in court.
We must add that we have a mass of documents and correspondence and we can only select a few for inclusion here..this page will never end otherwise!

If Elsie and Vi found people who testify that Rolf Harris never appeared at Leigh Park then so must have the police. None of these people were ever called to court and none of their evidence presented.
These are important witnesses that the police didn't call to court and their evidence must have either been ignored or it was hidden.
We do not believe that WE could find such witnesses but THE POLICE didn't!
In fact we believe Wendy Wild and her brother Paul Wild know more about the police investigation than was presented to the court, read this....

Paul Wild says...
"These officers leave no stone unturned while collating evidence, much of which cannot even be used for various reasons....." The police collated evidence that could not be used? That will not be true, all evidence can be used. The police more likely collated evidence they didn't want to use, because it was evidence showing that Rolf had never been to Leigh Park Community Centre. |
The leigh Park Community Centre
The first thing to note is that the Community Centre in question is a low grade community building in an unremarkable area of Havant. It is quite small with a capacity of about 150, but there to serve the local community with local events. When Vi visited she walked into the hall where Mr Harris is alleged to have appeared and is alleged to have carried out the so called assault. There was a weight watchers class in progress but later in the day Alcoholics Anonymous was booked into the same hall.

A colleague contacted the centre directly through the contact form on its website and received a reply.
The website address is http://leighpark.weebly.com/so if you want to contact them yourselves and verify our information you can.
The question we asked was simply this:
" I heard that Rolf Harris once visited Leigh Park Community Centre for a gig in the late sixties or thereabouts. Do you know when that was? I thought that there might be a pic of him in your history gallery! "
This was their answer:
" During the Rolf Harris investigation all archives were checked and there is no evidence or memory to suggest Rolf was ever at the Community Centre. "

Detective Seargant Gary Pankhurst told the court that extensive police searches of seven years of newspaper archives, door knocking enquiries, visits to nearby old peoples homes and searches of archives and interviews of Leigh Park Community Centre staff were negative and no evidence was found that Rolf Harris ever went there. Thus, together with the two pieces of information we give on this page, it is very clear and beyond any doubt that Rolf Harris never went to the Leigh Park Community Centre in Havant for any reason.
So why does Wendy Wild say Mr Harris did appear there?
We did our own searches and found newspaper cuttings of the Rolf Harris provincial tour showing that he was non stop busy in late 1969, none giving an appearance at Leigh Park. Others give some tell tale dates of the visits of Diana Dors and Sid James which were in fact seven years apart. It was given in court that these appearances were made at similar date....no they were NOT! Sid James went there in 1966 and Diana Dors in 1973.
So was the court misled? I think it was. Where were the defence team on this?
I think the police investigations probably showed up more than the police are letting on. So we need to ask what did the police find that was NOT presented to the court? Was there anything? According to Paul Wild there was!

Wendy Wild
Wendy Wild (married name Wendy Rosher) has waived her right to anonymity so it is legal to talk about her. The first thing we would like to show you is a screen grab from the Support Rolf Harris Facebook page on which she used to take part quite openly from her own Facebook account. It gives us an uneasy feeling about her as we get the sense of her being a nasty piece of work. After all, who says things like this?
She makes a very direct threat by saying "Someone will come for you So so sooooon I promise" and "Blow it up ya ASS ya ignormouse".........nice! I wonder if she spoke like that in court.

The screen shot showing one of her Facebook entries instantly gives a negative feel for this woman. It is worth noting that she is/was a child fosterer, or at least she presents herself as one. I do not know anything about foster carers or the criteria that has to be met to become one but I would have thought that somebody who talks like she does and in public forum should be looked at by the authorities. Also there is a public notice below showing that she was made bankrupt in 2012. Click on the image to clarify it. |
Or money!
Wendy Wild was declared bankrupt only a few months after making her allegation!
Wendy Wild was declared bankrupt only a few months after making her allegation!
Wendy Wild (aka Wendy Rosher) went to the police at the end of April 2013. She was declared bankrupt in July 2012 suggesting that she was in financial difficulty at the time she made the allegations. This was not mentioned in court.
