Bindi's former friend
A collective decision has been made not to delve into the fourth accuser, the former friend of Rolf Harris's daughter. We do not know her name so we call her "Miss X".
There seemed to be little point for a few reasons:
* We do not know who she is, but she and her family were formerly neighbours of the Harris family in Sydenham in South London.
* Harris’s counsel conceded that in the matter of Miss X there had been a “breach of trust” with a family friend.
* Whilst we do not believe anything illegal occurred, it is clear that Mr Harris and Miss X engaged in a dalliance which impacted adversely on both of their families.
For those reasons we are leaving this one alone except to say that if you consider the events as reported by Miss X, in our view, they suggest clearly that the relationship between them was both consensual, casual, long lasting and legal.
The only evidence presented to the court which has since been widely published is a letter of remorse written by Mr Harris to Miss X's father. This letter is seen by many as proof positive of Mr Harris's guilt. Oh but look at that letter people say! The press band it about as if it is their golden nugget of proof that Mr Harris had a relationship with an under-age girl.
I urge you to put your thinking caps on and add a bit of logic to the press rhetoric and prosecution spin - because that's what it is. Look at it another way. If the letter is proof of anything, it proves that Mr Harris had a relationship with a woman of consenting age. You might ask why on earth should you think that?
Answer: Because nobody in their right mind would write to a thirteen year old child's father and admit having a relationship with his under age daughter! Don't be so daft! The dalliance was of consenting age or the letter wouldn't exist! It's that easy really.
